Ridgway artist featured at Junction gallery

Works by Ridgway artist Maggie Remington will be featured until August 9 at Planet Earth and the 4 Directions Gallery in Grand Junction.

Remington has gained acclaim as a “Southwestern landscape artist: who creates art on the landscape, with the landscape.

“Some of the greatest art takes us to new and imaginative worlds, yet Maggie reminds us that it is here and now, where we stand on the earth,” said Caole Lowry of Planet Earth gallery. “She uses the earth, literally, to create her art and the earth responds, dancing with her and her viewers as she creates or they view.”

Remington’s works of regional landscapes – in the local flavors of gold, green, blue, orange and brown – include “Upper Colona,” “Grand Mesa,” and “Tiyoweh Trails.” Her palette is the earth’s subtle yet vibrant pigments her easel is the ground on which she walks, and each canvas is carefully completed, dated and given the geographical name of the place she stopped to get to know.

An opening reception for Remington is scheduled at the gallery at 7 p.m. Friday, July 11. For information call (970) 256-9630.
